Driving
Test Section
The practical driving test is designed to ensure that
you can drive safely and competently under all conditions that you
may encounter. First you have to be able to read a number plate at 20.5
metres (67 feet).
Then you will be asked about safety checks on your
vehicle that are now part of the Driving Test. One
is “Show me” & one is a “Tell me” question, a wrong
answer is a minor mark.
The test will last approx 40 minutes covering a variety
of road and traffic conditions.
To
pass your driving test you must reach the desired standard, which means
that you must not make any more than 15 minor errors with no serious or
dangerous faults.
One in three candidates will be asked to carry out an emergency stop.
You will be asked to do two out of the three following manoeuvres:
 | Turn in the road
|
 | Reverse
or Bay parking
|
 | Reverse round a corner |
Once
you have passed your driving test you can drive unsupervised, on motorways
and without any "L" plates on.
